By David Baratta

Colonials face off against Kentucky (Oct 13), Navy (Oct 20), and Georgetown (Oct 27) - all at 6:40pm at Kettler Capitals Iceplex

GW has returned from North Carolina 6-1 on the season, and begins an extended home-stay including the next three Fridays, which we have dubbed "College Hockey Night in DC" - all games will take place at 6:40pm at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, which is adjacent to the Ballston metro stop on the orange/silver line.  All games are free and open to the public.

Quick previews:

Friday, October 13, vs. Kentucky: Kentucky is a virtual unknown to GW as this will be the first time in team history the two teams have faced.  Kentucky has an ambitious schedule this season, having already come east once for a North Carolina trip a few weekends ago, and coming to DC this weekend to play us, Georgetown, and Navy.  During their NC trip, they beat Elon 7-4 and lost an OT matchup with UNC 6-5, suggesting this is easily an ACCHL caliber team.  They've also split with Louisville, who has been known to make it to the ACHA southeast regional tournament.

Friday, October 20 vs. Navy: This will be GW's in-conference home opener, and on Colonials Weekend no less.  Navy went 2-1 in the Stephen Russel tournament, which puts them in a division tie with St. Joe's.  At the tournament, Navy lost a close matchup with NC State 5-3, but demolished Duke 8-1 and High Point 8-3.  Expect them to be a team with firepower and stellar goaltending.

Friday, October 27 vs. Georgetown: GW has already faced Georgetown this season in a "friendly" exhibition at the Capital One Arena, where GW won 3-0.  Georgetown had a tougher go than Navy at the Stephen Russell tournament going 1-1-1, with a win over High Point but very close losses to Wake Forest (4-3 in regulation) and UNC (4-3 in OT).  Expect Georgetown to be a great battle (as usual) to not only want to avenge the early season exhibition loss, but to want to climb back in the standings.

We hope you will join us for all three games!  Better attend while you can, these are the only remaining games on GW's schedule at a metro-accessible arena.
