Seniors recognized for outstanding achievement during their time at GW

Although GW did not achieve their annual goal of making their conference playoffs, they will not walk away empty handed as a number of players earned individual awards and set new records for the program.

First-and-foremost, senior and captain Augie Burkhardt won the coveted ACCHL Player of the Year Award as the most valuable player in the conference.  That honor also landed him a spot on the All-ACCHL 1st-Team.  His stats this past season all set new single-season heights as he had 26 goals (T-4th), 21 assists (T-10th), and 47 points (6th).  Those points also contributed to him rising on the career total records as he'll be graduating with 68 goals (7th), 51 assists (T-8th), and 119 points (T-7th) in only 58 GP due to missing out on the 20-21 season cancelled by COVID-19.  In addition to his on-ice performance, he was recognized by the team at their senior nights for his efforts keeping the band together during that cancelled season so that we all had a program to return to, and we can never thank him enough.

In addition to Augie, sophomore defenseman and assistant captain Cade Llewellyn was named to the All-ACCHL 2nd-Team and his 11 assists this season is tied for 8th best in a single season by a defenseman.  Freshman Ethan Redden was named to the ACCHL All-Rookie team thanks to his 11 goals and 7 assists.  Grad Student Shawn Montgomery's 19 goals this season were good for 10th best by a forward in a single season, and senior goalie Graham Roy's 5 wins this season were enough to push him to 19 wins overall in his career, good for 4th best ever.

In addition to Augie, Shawn, and Graham, we'd also like to recognize senior and assistant captain Nicholas Karlsson, senior Christopher Finkelstein, and graduate student Ben Kyte for their on-ice contributions and leadership to the hockey program during their time here.

The only remaining event left for this season is our alumni game, which may feature some of the players above for the first time, taking place on Saturday, March 4th at 6:40pm at the St. James.  For more info and to sign up, you can click here: https://www.gwicehockey.com/alumni

Incoming players and other teams interested in scheduling should feel free to reach out to gwhockey@gwu.edu during the offseason as planning for the 23-24 season is already underway.
